Raised $1,192 from 20 donors
The Intramural Sports department at Salisbury University has always been a hub of energy on campus, bringing students together for friendly competition, teamwork, and endless fun. This year, for the first time, Intramural Sports joined SU’s Giving Day and raised an impressive $1,192.67 from 20 enthusiastic supporters—a major boost that will help fuel the program's impact and legacy.
With more than 2,750 students playing each year and over 45 students working as part of the team, Intramural Sports wanted to use Giving Day to strengthen connections with both students and alumni. “Our family is big!” shared Brandon Smithson, Director of Intramural Sports. "We joined Giving Day to build on our relationships and keep growing that community spirit." The team went all-in on a creative social media push, featuring a YouTube video, Instagram posts, and a lot of word-of-mouth buzz to rally support.
The donations will go a long way in powering some exciting initiatives. One top priority is to help train new sports officials to tackle the nationwide shortage in officiating. Additionally, the donations will support professional development for the student staff, helping them build skills for lifelong careers in the sports industry.
Giving Day was a huge win for Intramural Sports, showing just how much SU’s community values the program and its role on campus. Thanks to this support, the department is ready to grow bigger and bolder, bringing more students together and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
