Garden Club

Give to Garden Club on Giving Day!

The Gardening Club, a completely student-run organization, was started in early 2012, its purpose to establish and maintain the front vegetable garden located near the corner of Camden and College Avenues. The club supplies produce to local restaurants and works with local farms in the area, and in the future hopes to include public schools in their outreach to educate the community. Membership is open to all students; members get to share the delicious results of their labors!

Geiser-Simpson Winds of Change Advocacy Endowment

Winds of Change was born as a result of the Geiser family’s personal journey and passion to Break the Silence surrounding child abuse. In 2013, following the disclosure of a loved one, the family’s eyes were quickly and painfully opened to this silent epidemic. It was during the trauma and healing of the weeks and months following that day that the Geiser family realized that although they couldn’t change the past, they could use their experience to help others.

The purpose of the Winds of Change Advocacy Endowment is to support training and education of practitioners, students and community members through the Salisbury University’s Center for Healthy Communities. Child abuse advocacy and awareness are supported through workforce development, professional continuing education, and partner engagement via community service and community-based learning. All it takes is one person willing to do their part in breaking the silence in order to make a difference in a child’s life forever. Please consider making a gift today.

George Summers Memorial Fund

Gerald A. Elkins Award

The Gerald A. Elkins Internship Award was established through the SU Foundation, Inc., to honor Gerald Elkins, the late husband of SU Chief of Staff Amy Hasson. “I thought it was important to offer SU students an urban planning experience, while also honoring Gerald's legacy,” Hasson said. “What better place to do so than in Baltimore City Planning, one of the best planning departments in the country, and the place where we met and spent so many years working among smart, creative and visionary colleagues. Gerald would be so pleased and proud to know that we have introduced a student to the place and occupation he loved so well, just as Gerald's high school art teacher did so many years ago.”

This endowed internship award affords a Geography major who has demonstrated academic success and leadership skills the opportunity to explore a career in urban planning and mapping with the Baltimore City Planning Department. This award is made in honor of Gerald Elkins, a dedicated planning and mapping professional in the City’s Planning Department for more than 40 years. Make your gift today in memory of Gerald Elkins to impact an SU Geography student's life.

Glass Club

Glassblowing is a fine art and creative discipline that any student can practice in the Glass Club. This club offers a hands-on outlet during the semester and space for students to make friendships while creating something special.

To continue this work, the Glass Club needs support for essential materials and equipment. Colorants such as bar and frit are costly but critical for many glass projects. The club also seeks funding for new equipment, including eye protection, leather gloves, and sculpting tools, to maintain a safe and well-equipped studio for all participants.

Your gift to the Glass Club supports new colorants for glassware, safety equipment, and updated sculpting tools.
